My name is Dmitry Demsky. I am a clock designer. I live and work in Lithuania, in Vilnius. I do clocks about 2 years and really do not remember how it started. It seems to me, that it is because some very magnetic and mysterious substances inside the time. Invisible and untouchable but moves every moment, step by step, slowly and silently across our life and with our life. Till the present time I like it more and more. Do and create new and new variations, proportions, colors. I try to fill clocks by value of meanings, such as past and present, abruptness and simpleness, tradition and new. Simple but not easy. I prefer that clocks look as very old or even founded somewhere thing and try disappear as author from ready thing, try to let it be itself. I like that it is decor and function together, that clocks will work many many years, every day, every hour, every minute. I always think about usability, how people will look at clocks and what they will see (prefer that right time) so my clocks tested in dark and light conditions to find a better contrast proportion. Plus I use very quality movements, which were tested by my long practice experience. They are precise, silent and small. They are my friends, helpers. I just let them live and work. Handmade. It is too most important part and sign. I am able to make clocks which made as fabric thing, using laser cut and another modern machines, but I love that my clocks are not perfect, it does not mean that I do them without attention, every clock, I accent on EVERY, done by looking and searching many important things (material, color, proportion, painting). So thereby I do only one piece (I mean unique and original piece) and very try not repeating it again, every new clock takes the same energy and time as previous. This is conceptually thing. Process which I use during work are really unexpected at the end. It means that I get every time new result. |
